How many card readers do we need?
It depends on guest numbers, room layout and how many giving moments you plan. As a rule of thumb, one reader per eight to ten tables plus one at settlement, topped up with Tap to Pay phones for the pledge moment. Tell us those numbers when you request a demo and we will recommend a set-up rather than hire readers that stay in a box.
Our venue has no reliable Wi-Fi. Will this still work?
Yes. Tap to Pay runs on the volunteer's own phone and uses its mobile signal, and QR donations happen on the donor's phone. The Stripe S710/S700 connects over Wi-Fi and keeps taking donations offline if the connection drops, sending them securely when it reconnects.
Can we hire readers just for the night?
Yes. GiveTap clients can hire a Stripe S710/S700 for £25 per device per week or a WisePad 3 for £10 per week, rather than buying. Processing fees and terms are on the card readers page.
Can guests give from their tables?
Yes. QR codes on tables and in programmes let guests give from their seats, alongside roaming Tap to Pay collectors and docked reader points.
Can we see the total during the event?
Yes. Reader, Tap to Pay and QR giving report into the same platform, and the real-time leaderboard and pledge animations can go on the big screen.
How does Gift Aid work?
Donors can add a Gift Aid declaration as part of the giving flow on a QR code or donation page. Declarations are reported centrally and claims can be submitted to HMRC through GiveTap's HMRC integration.
